YOUTH: Target Audience and Market Research

When it comes to target audience in short films they are usually targeted to young adults (17plus) and both genders, but a recent study found that more females watch short films so therefore Laura's male gaze doesn't overall apply to all short films.

Our target audience would be around the same as black mirror's but as it's nowhere near as explicit we would reduce ours down to 16plus. Short films such as ours will be promoted on social media and that audience is mostly based around 15-30 year olds.

Based on a recent survey we created to determine what audiences prefer:

 Overall, most people watch short films, with horror and comedy as the most popular genre. Our film is Si-Fi which only got 15% so it's now up to us to make sure our film can appeal to the masses. As I guessed, social media is the main platform that people find out about films, with word of mouth coming in second. Social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are the most common platforms were people hear about films as well as trailers on youtube.
